Students in Year 9 will prepare for their option choices through a variety of planned activities through the autumn term 2024 and in January/February 2025:

• Personal Development lessons will incorporate activities during the autumn term to prepare students for their GCSE choices.
• 7th January: The options booklet will be distributed electronically to parents to share the subjects on offer to study at key stage 4 from September 2025.
• W/C 13th January: a week of assemblies for Y9 where subject leaders from the option subjects will present key information to students.  
• 14th January 6-7pm: a parent and student presentation on the option process and format of the GCSE curriculum with members of the senior leadership team and Mr Markham.  
• Students will be given further information and opportunities to ask questions in lessons during January.
• Monday 20th January: Options forms will be distributed to students via form tutors.
• Friday 7th February: Deadline for submission of options forms.

If students are struggling to make options choices, we will arrange a meeting with our careers advisor in school to support them the process.  Students should talk to their form tutor, Mr Markham or Mrs Bott to ask for this.
