What's happening at Bradfield?

Despite the wet weather this week, it’s been a productive and positive time at Bradfield School. We’re especially proud of our Year 7 pupils, who continue to settle in brilliantly.

Year 10 have also made a strong start to their GCSE journey. During our learning walks around school, we’ve seen high expectations in classrooms and pupils working incredibly hard.

In assemblies this week, we’ve focused on the importance of attendance. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a dip in attendance due to seasonal illness, which is common at this time of year. To support families, we’ve included NHS guidance in today’s letter outlining when children should and shouldn’t attend school. This has also been shared on our social media channels. Unless children are genuinely unwell, we do encourage them to attend school—even with minor symptoms like a cough or cold.

Please remember that if a child arrives after 9:00 a.m, they will be marked with a 'U' code, which counts as an unauthorised absence for the entire morning. It’s vital that pupils arrive on time to avoid this.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to welcome Year 6 families to our Open Evening next week (Wednesday 24th September 5:00pm – 7:00pm). We’re grateful to the many pupil volunteers who will be helping us showcase what makes Bradfield School such a special place.

Year 11s, who are approaching the start of their GCSE year with real maturity; Their commitment to revision sessions and Maths Period 6 on Tuesdays has been excellent, and they’re proving to be fantastic role models for younger pupils.

Year 11 are currently working on their Sheffield Progress applications, which are essential for applying to sixth forms and colleges. Please do speak with your child about this process. Their upcoming PPEs (Pre-Public Examinations) are also very important, as the results contribute to their predicted grades, key for post-16 applications. We encourage all pupils to revise thoroughly and give their best effort.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a restful weekend and fingers crossed for some sunshine!
