Careers Programme: Bradfield School
In Y7 PSHE students are introduced to the range of possible jobs and the personal qualities related to them
In Y8 PSHE we look at how these qualities could be demonstrated to a potential employer via a CV. Work is also done on raising career aspirations and financial awareness.
In Y9 PSHE, students research career options in more detail and produce an Individual Learning Plan to help support their option choices for GCSE. Support from Careers Advisors is available at this point if required.
Y10 & Y11
Careers Interviews: Students and parents will be offered a Careers Consultation interview with Sheffield Futures, who will provide independent careers advice and guidance. Follow-up calls/work will take place where necessary.
Careers Convention: In Y11 students and parents are given access to local and national employers, apprenticeship providers, colleges and universities.
Students and parents are invited to the school Sixth Form Open events and given dates and information about other local open events for post-16 options.
Students will attend the UCAS Fair in Sheffield to meet post-18 providers including Universities, Apprenticeship providers, Gap Year, the Armed Forces, HE Colleges and employers
Degree Apprenticeships – students will be given an assembly with follow up consultation on degree apprenticeships
Work Experience – Y12 students are given the opportunity to complete work experience as part of their study programme.
Students receive bespoke advice and guidance as part of their tutorial programme to help with post-18 applications to University, apprenticeships or college courses.
